Urgent Update Regarding FIT Referrals and Waitlist

Referral FormUnfortunately due to staffing and funding cuts combined with an overwhelming demand for services, Families In Transition will no longer be taking referrals to our agency effective September 15th.

This is a very difficult step, but will allow us to work through our waiting list of 200+ families and develop a new system that will better address the needs of homeless families in our community. We are projecting that we will be able to implement an improved and more direct referral system for homeless families around the beginning of 2009.

Thank you for your patience and for spreading the word to families and community providers. Please refer to www.helpscc.org or the Shelter Hotline at (831)457-8741 for appropriate referrals for families.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. Thank you.

Welcome

Welcome to Families In Transition of Santa Cruz County. The goal of Families In Transition is to provide high quality supportive & housing services to struggling families throughout Santa Cruz County.

Families In Transition works closely with many community partners to ensure that families are able to access all appropriate resources and opportunities for success and stability. In addition to linkages with community programs and on-going case management services Families In Transition provides a variety of housing strategies to meet the individual needs of homeless and at-risk families with children throughout Santa Cruz County.

In most cases Families In Transition provides a short-term housing subsidy to families in scattered sites throughout the community. The goal is for the family to obtain necessary rental assistance and social services tailored to their individual circumstances while living in stable, private market housing that they will be able to maintain on their own at the completion of Families in Transition services.

Since 1992 Families In Transition has been preventing and ending homelessness for local families with children. Over one thousand families have received services that have enabled them to provide a home and greater stability for their children.

NOTICE: Families In Transition strives to provide support to as many families as possible in a timely and efficient manner. However, please note that due to limited funding and staffing cuts we regrettably cannot take any new referrals to our program at this time. Please see the "Current Updates" section at the top of the page for more info. We thank you for your continued understanding and support.
